Chimney & Leadwork

Chimneys repaired, rebuilt or removed, and hand-formed leadwork done to a standard that lasts decades.

Brick chimney stacks with pots rising from a tiled roof against a blue sky

Overview

The chimney is the most exposed part of any roof and the most common place for leaks to start. Cracked flaunching, perished pointing, rusted flashings and spalled brickwork all let water in. We repair, repoint, rebuild or fully remove chimneys, and renew the leadwork that weathers them.

Leadwork is a craft, and it is where corners are most often cut. We use milled Code 4 and Code 5 lead, dressed and welted by hand to BS 6915, with the correct soakers, step flashings and saddles. Done properly, good leadwork outlasts the roof it sits on — and that is the only way we do it.

Formed to BS 6915

Lead dressed, welted and clipped by hand the way it should be — not folded flat and hoped for.

Whatever your stack needs, we make the roof around it fully watertight.

Good To Know

Chimney & Leadwork — your questions

My chimney is unused — should I remove it?
Removing a redundant stack ends a major source of leaks and damp and frees up roof space. We can take it down to roof level or fully, and weather in the roof above perfectly.
Why does leadwork fail?
Usually because it was too long, fixed badly, or thermal movement cracked it. Correctly sized, clipped and dressed lead to BS 6915 lasts for decades.
Can you match old brickwork?
Yes. For repairs and rebuilds we source reclaimed and colour-matched brick and pots so the repaired stack looks original.
